PDO threads are dissolvable threads placed under the skin to lift and tighten sagging areas and stimulate collagen, a non-surgical alternative to a facelift.
PDO threads offer a non-surgical way to lift and tighten areas of the face and neck that have started to sag. Fine, dissolvable threads made from polydioxanone (PDO), a material used safely in surgical sutures for decades, are placed just beneath the skin to give an immediate lift and support to the tissues.
As the threads gradually dissolve over around six months, they stimulate your skin to produce new collagen, so the skin continues to firm and improve in quality. Results typically last 12 to 18 months. Popular areas include the jawline and jowls, cheeks, brows, neck and nasolabial folds, and treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic with minimal downtime.
We assess your face, skin laxity and goals, review your medical history, and plan exactly where the threads will be placed to achieve a natural-looking lift. We will also let you know whether threads alone, or a combination with other treatments, will give you the best result.
On the day, the skin is cleansed and the entry points and lifting directions are carefully marked. A local anaesthetic is then applied so the treatment is as comfortable as possible.
The threads are inserted under the skin using a fine needle or cannula along the planned lines, then gently lifted and positioned. Treatment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas treated, and you will see an immediate lift.
Mild swelling, bruising and tenderness are common for a few days, and most people return to normal activities within 1 to 2 days. For 2 weeks, avoid exaggerated facial expressions, sleeping on your face, facial massage, dental treatment, saunas and strenuous exercise.
Different threads do different jobs, and most treatments use a combination tailored to your face. All are made from PDO and dissolve naturally over time, leaving behind the new collagen they stimulate.
PDO threads may not be suitable if you have an active skin infection, an autoimmune condition, a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medication, are prone to keloid scarring, or have permanent fillers in the treatment area. For significant skin laxity, a surgical facelift may give a better result. We will discuss this honestly at your consultation.

I was very nervous when I first arrived, as this was going to be my first experience with any type of aesthetics. I was quickly put at ease and the whole process was explained clearly allowing me to ask many questions. Thank you 😊

I’ve been to the clinic 4 times now and always been pleased with the results. Mr Hussain is very reassuring and honest with his recommendations about treatments. I’ll continue to go here and highly recommend.

A local anaesthetic is used, so most clients feel only pressure and mild discomfort during treatment. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and can be managed with simple painkillers such as paracetamol.
The threads dissolve over around six months, but the collagen they stimulate remains. Results typically last 12 to 18 months, depending on your age, skin and lifestyle, and can be topped up.
Downtime is minimal. You may have some swelling, bruising or slight puckering for a few days, which settles on its own. Most people return to work within 1 to 2 days.
Yes. Threads are often combined with dermal fillers or skin treatments such as microneedling for a more complete rejuvenation. We will recommend the right combination for you at your consultation.
